Toe nail fungus also known as onychomycosis is the most severe nail infection that is difficult to treat. The infection is mostly caused due to dermatophytes found beneath the nails of fingers of the toes. Actually the micro-organism favors warm and humid atmosphere that is suitable for its growth and is generally found in the washroom or surface of the swimming pools.

One should always avoid walking bare footed specially in the wet and moist public areas such as swimming pool, bathrooms and toilets. However it takes a good amount of time to get rid of the infection completely, so natural home remedies is most suitable. Long term use of drugs can be injurious for your health and should be avoided.
Washing the feet with vinegar is a suitable and cheap option for curing toenail fungus infection. Soaking the affected finger in the solution of vinegar for some time is quite effective in killing the fungus. Many people having toenail fungus have tried this and had successful results. The feet should be completely dried with a towel after soaking it in the solution.

Vicks vaporub can also be applied on the affected foot as it contains eucalyptus as ingredients. It is effective in killing the fungus fast.
